Come take a look at our new backyard!!
Here at Wilderness Way we have finished our re-model project on the street-side of our building! To see the final photos and construction views of our new image, click here. Our goal was to have a nice grassy area between the store and the street, with trees and plantings to surround the mural on the back of the building. We believe this new look not only helps improve the appearance of the building, but will greatly add to the look and feel of downtown Soldotna. This project underscores Wilderness Way's commitment to preserving the environment and adding to the value and livability of our community.

Personal Locator Beacons This is the new standard for the international 406 satellite frequency emergency Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) to trigger emergency rescue! By the way, the ACR AquaFix 406 GPS I/O EPIRB is the SAME exact unit in blue (like water). Either can be used on land or water. The really cool thing about this whole program is your ability to enter your trip profile, boat info, gear and group appearance, route plan, etc. in your personal PLB web page on the NOAA site! If you need rescue and trip the satellite, your PLB unit's unique electronic serial number and your GPS coordinates are transmitted immediately. Within 3 minutes, the nearest Rescue Command Center will know exactly what they are looking for, what you were supposed to be doing, and where you are within about 100 yards! (You had better really need them, 'cause they'll be coming fast!) We now also carry Spot Personal Locator Beacons, a new addition to our locator beacon options! These are great PLB's and you need to come into Wilderness Way to check out the advantages of this new system.
New at Wilderness Way! Rent a Personal Locator Beacon by the day or week! We are really excited about our new PLB rental program! Beginning this summer we will be renting out Personal Locator Beacons by the day or week. So if you're worried about being lost or injured alone in the wilderness, but have hesitated to buy a PLB due to the cost and your limited use for the occassional hike or camping trip, this is the plan for you! For a very reasonable cost, you will be able to carry the safety and peace of mind of having an emergency locator beacon along with you. (If you use the PLB you will need to pay for any applicable charges, just as if it were your own PLB, but as long as you don't use it or lose it, you will pay only a moderate rental fee.) We hope that this program will allow for greater safety and more peace of mind, by giving our customers access to state-of-the-art, locator beacon technology on a reasonable budget!
