Come take a look at our new backyard!!
Here at Wilderness Way we have finished our re-model project on the street-side of our building! To see the final photos and construction views of our new image, click here. Our goal was to have a nice grassy area between the store and the street, with trees and plantings to surround the mural on the back of the building. We believe this new look not only helps improve the appearance of the building, but will greatly add to the look and feel of downtown Soldotna. This project underscores Wilderness Way's commitment to preserving the environment and adding to the value and livability of our community.

But the new canoes we carry from Mad River and Wenonah are so much better than the ones you remember as a kid - lighter weight, more sturdy and beautiful. We challange you to compare the quality and beauty of the great canoes we have in stock to the cheap fiberglass or plastic ones in the budget stores. You'll see right away why discriminating buyers are willing to pay more for a quality canoe!
And don't forget the accessories! We have a wide range of paddles, clothing, dry bags and other gear for your canoeing safety. We carry PFD's for all sizes from children to adult from MTI, Stearns, and Patagonia.
We are often asked where one can go canoeing in the Kenai area. With the huge number of lakes and rivers on the Peninnisula, the answer is: almost anywhere! The Kenai River itself is big and turbulent, make for difficult canoeing, and at certain times of the year is downright dangerous. But the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge has a series of designated canoe trails that are great for kayakers or canoers looking for a beautiful day trip. The Swanson River also has a lot of great areas for canoeing.
